A COLLEGE basketball star has died in a tragic shooting.

Brown was at a pool party when he reportedly suffered a gunshot wound to the head.

According to KLTV, he was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment.

He died soon after arriving at the hospital.

The Texas Rangers are investigating the shooting and have identified a suspect.

A warrant has not been issued for the suspect’s arrest yet.

Brown was just 23 years old and averaged 6.5 points per game at HSU.

His head coach, Jimmy Elgas, released a statement about Brown’s death.

“No words can express our sadness for Jamarion’s family, friends, and teammates,” Elgas said in a statement.

“We lift them all up in prayer. Jo’s impact was felt not only on the basketball court, but throughout the fabric of Henderson State University, and we all grieve together.

“His loss leaves a tremendous void on our campus, but Jo will be remembered and honored in our hearts forever.”

HSU also shared a statement about Brown’s death online.

“It is with deep sadness that Henderson State Athletics mourns the death of junior men’s basketball student-athlete Jamarion Brown,” the statement said

“‘Jo’ spent just one season in Arkadelphia, but his impact on our campus was profound.”

Basketball fans flocked to social media after the news to share their thoughts with Brown’s family.

“This morning, for the loss of a wonderful young man who could light up any room he walked in,” one wrote on X.

“He never met a stranger and could always make you smile! Praying for the family and friends of sweet Jamarion Brown!”

“Our hearts go out to the loved ones of Jamarion Brown during this difficult time,” another said.

“Shocked to hear the news from Arkadelphia that basketball player Jamarion Brown has died. Sending thoughts and prayers to his family, coaches and teammates in a most difficult time,” a third said.

Another labeled brown as a “shining light to all who knew him, remembered for his warm spirit, deep commitment to family, and passion for basketball.”
