Female Basketball Goddess JuJu Watkins..
Caitlin Clark’s college record is in danger of being broken by USC teenager JuJu Watkins — who is she?
Caitlin Clark’s reign at the top of college basketball history could soon be history.
JuJu Wakins, a 19-year-old sophomore at USC, is on pace to break several career records set by Clark at Iowa. Watkins is on track to surpass Clark’s collegiate start as the best start in the history of the sport to date.
Clark holds the record for most career points scored by a male or female player with 3,951. But Watkins is on track to claim that bling for herself, with 1,142 in just 38 career games. It took Clark 40 games to reach that mark.
In mid-November, Watkins also passed the 1,000-point mark in two games against Clark. Watkins has maintained the advantage in scoring since then.
With 376 total goals, Watkins is on pace to finish with a greater total than Clark in that statistic. Watkins had a staggering 301 total goals in her freshman year, while Clark had just 266 as a freshman.
This season, Watkins leads the NCAA with a .476 field goal percentage. If she keeps that up through the end of the year, it will be a better field goal percentage than Clark ever had in a season at Iowa. Admittedly, Watkins only has eight games left in the season.
The biggest difference between the two players is their scoring. Clark is undeniably the better 3-point shooter, holding the NCAA’s all-time 3-point record that Watkins is still far from matching. Watkins does most of her damage from inside the arc and is a better finisher in the paint.
Watkins scored the majority of her 920 points her freshman year on a national-leading 553 2-pointers. The most 2-pointers Clark has ever made in a single college season was 359 in her sophomore year, 2021-22
