Violet, who was pictured with J-Lo in the months after her split from Ben, is determined to maintain a connection to her former stepmom and her family and reached out to Lynda to arrange the catch-up.
An insider told DailyMail.com: ‘Violet has a strong attachment to J-Lo and her family. It’s quite confusing to Ben and Jen [Garner] because they do not understand why Violet is so adamant on keeping her close.’
The insider revealed that Violet invited Lynda, adding: ‘She looks up to J-Lo and Lynda and is intent on keeping the bond alive. Violet said that she reached out to her and said she wanted to come visit.’

Ben and his first wife Jennifer are aware that their daughter is old enough to decide who she wants to hang out with, but they took issue with the meetup being shared online.
The insider added: ‘The first time Ben saw this photo was online. He wasn’t aware that Lynda was visiting. But Violet is an adult, and she is allowed to do as she pleases and spend time with who she wants to.
‘Ben and Jen feel Lynda and Violet could have spent time together and even taken a cute photo together without it going online for the world to see.’
The source noted that Violet was simply following in the footsteps of her parents, who have maintained a good relationship while co-parenting Violet and her siblings Fin, 15, and Samuel, 12.

Violet started school as a freshman at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut in September.
It came just weeks after J-Lo filed for divorce from Ben on August 20, marking what would have been their two-year wedding anniversary.
